It operates under IOS XE in a modular Supervisor + Line Cards + N+1 redundant power supply architecture, for 4U, 10U, or 13U chassis.

This supervisor is the reference for campus network cores requiring 240 Gbps per slot with the production-proven maturity of the UADP 3.0 ASIC. Compared to the C9400X-SUP-2 (more than 480 Gbps), the C9400-SUP2 offers an excellent capacity-to-investment ratio for environments whose current requirements do not justify the X-Series generation.
