The Fortinet FortiGate 2201E, part number FG-2201E, is a high-performance NGFW firewall designed for mid-range datacenters. Powered by FortiASIC CP9/NP6 processors, it delivers 158 Gbps firewall throughput, 16.5 Gbps IPS, 13.5 Gbps NGFW, and 98 Gbps IPSec VPN. Its front panel houses 4 x 40GbE QSFP+ ports, 20 x 10/25GbE SFP+/SFP28 ports, and 12 x Gigabit RJ-45 ports. Two hot-swappable 1 TB SSDs provide local log retention.
The FG-2201E targets large enterprises and hosting providers that need to inspect encrypted traffic at 17 Gbps and manage 24 million concurrent sessions with 500,000 new connections per second. Support for 1,024 FortiAPs and 128 FortiSwitches makes it a central hub for SD-WAN or large campus architectures. It is distinguished from the 2200E by its onboard SSDs for local logging.
