Tidyo says it can't see my photos

Tidyo needs access to your photo library to scan it. Everything stays on your iPhone.

  1. Open Settings › Apps › Tidyo › Photos (on iOS 17: Settings › Tidyo › Photos).
  2. Choose Full Access.
  3. Go back to Tidyo and start a new scan from the Home tab.

With Limited Access, Tidyo only sees the photos you selected, so duplicates and similar shots among the others can't be found. The same applies to contacts: allow all contacts in Settings › Apps › Tidyo › Contacts to find every duplicate.

Some photos or videos won't load

If iCloud Photos is on with Optimize iPhone Storage, some originals live in iCloud and must be downloaded before Tidyo can analyse, show or compress them. Check your connection (Wi-Fi is best) and try again.

My video compression stopped

  • Resume: if iOS interrupts a compression, temporary files are removed, your videos are untouched, and Tidyo offers to resume the next time you open it.
  • Long videos: keep Tidyo open, or leave it in the background without closing it from the app switcher. On iOS 26, batches can continue in the background.
  • Warm iPhone: compression pauses when your iPhone heats up and resumes when it cools down. Charging on a cool surface helps.
  • Free space and iCloud: the compressed copy needs a little room before the original is removed, and videos stored in iCloud need to download first.

When a compression finishes, you confirm once in the iOS alert and the originals go to Recently Deleted. Empty it to get the space back.

I deleted photos but my storage didn't go down

iOS keeps deleted photos and videos for 30 days. Open Photos › Recently Deleted (under Utilities), tap Select, then Delete All to free the space now. The figure in Settings › General › iPhone Storage can take a few minutes to update.

Manage or cancel your subscription

  1. Open Settings › [your name] › Subscriptions on your iPhone.
  2. Tap Tidyo.
  3. Change your plan, or tap Cancel Subscription.

Cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period to avoid the next renewal. If you're on the free trial, Tidyo sends one reminder the day before it ends. Deleting the app doesn't cancel a subscription. Payments and refunds are handled by Apple: request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Restore your purchases

Changed iPhone or reinstalled Tidyo? Your purchase is tied to your Apple Account.

  1. Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple Account you used to buy.
  2. In Tidyo, open Settings › Upgrade to Pro.
  3. Tap Restore. Your subscription or lifetime purchase is unlocked again at no extra cost.

Undo a contacts merge

Before any change to your contacts, Tidyo saves a .vcf backup of all of them. To restore, open the backup file and tap Add All Contacts.

Frequently asked questions

Does Tidyo upload my photos?

No. All analysis runs on your iPhone. Your photos, videos and contacts never leave your device. Read the privacy policy.

Can I recover deleted photos?

Yes, for 30 days, from Photos › Recently Deleted: select the items and tap Recover. After Recently Deleted is emptied, they can't be recovered.

Can Tidyo clear WhatsApp's cache?

No, iOS doesn't allow any app to clear another app's cache. Tidyo cleans the photos and videos WhatsApp saved to your photo library. For media stored inside WhatsApp, use WhatsApp › Settings › Storage and Data › Manage Storage.

What's free and what's Pro?
