The GLC-BX40-DA-I from Cisco is a ruggedised bidirectional (BiDi) 1 Gbps SFP transceiver for single-mode fibre links over a single strand, with a reach of 40 km. Using WDM technology on a single fibre strand, it transmits and receives on separate wavelengths, saving 50% of fibre capacity compared to conventional duplex solutions. Its thermal range of -40 to +85 °C ensures suitability for demanding environments.

This module is intended for point-to-point links between sites up to 40 km apart where the existing fibre cabling has only one strand available, typically in access or telecom backhaul networks.
