The JL309A is an HPE Aruba 100 Gbps QSFP28 transceiver based on the 100GBASE-SR4 standard, optimized for OM4 multimode fiber with an MPO connector. It achieves a 100-meter reach by distributing traffic across four parallel optical lanes, delivering high port density on modern OM4 MMF infrastructure.

Compared to the R0Z21A (which carries TAA certification), the JL309A is primarily aimed at private data center or cloud deployments where 100G port density is critical and TAA compliance is not required.
